The first mill on this site dates back to 1619. The mill now here, built in 1987, is a replica of a pile mill by Jan Jansenzoon, which was rebuilt on the old bastion, as was the replica of the Rembrand Bridge.

This mill is separate from the other three mills in a row and is located near the provincial road, approximately 800 m southwest of Aarlanderveen. After the current polder was created at the end of the 18th century, a peat lake of over 100 ha remained. In order to separately drain this so-called 'Put', this screw mill was built in 1801 for ƒ 22,000. This mill was built on the site where a corn mill had previously stood. That mill was moved to another location in Aarlanderveen in 1782 and would burn down there in 1870. After that, the still existing tower mill 'De Morgenster' was built on that site.
