Well done and an eye catcher. There is a really nice view from the top of the bridge. There are signs for the Wendelweg "Cyclist please dismount". In my opinion, this does not apply to the stairs.👌

Historic bridge location.

At a historic location, the pedestrian bridge, which went into operation in 2000, connects the city center with the district on the west bank. The first wooden summer bridge stood at this old Weser crossing in 1512, during the time of the Counts of Hoya. It had to be dismantled in winter because of ice.

In 1717, the first stone Weser bridge was built here as a donation from King George I of England. Until the end of the 19th century, this Weser crossing was the only one in the area. When a larger bridge was built a few hundred meters downstream from the Weser, the first pedestrian bridge was built here in 1906, but was destroyed in World War II. The bridgeless situation at this point lasted almost 60 years. Since 2000, the new pedestrian bridge has provided a crossing over the Weser.
