In the Advent weeks of 2020, this wooden cross was initially erected by unknown people on the ridge from the Wichtelbrunnen to the Spitzenberg on the Stahrenberg (407m above sea level).
The regional newspaper was able to find out that this approx. 2.50 m high wooden cross was erected by a hiker from Reichensachsen, who was troubled by the wanderlust to the peaks of the mountains in these Corona times and who wanted to satisfy his wanderlust .
So far there have been no objections to this summit cross and hopefully it can continue to stand at this beautiful vantage point.
A wooden box is attached to the summit cross which contains a summit book where you can make entries.
Attention, it is not easy to reach this summit cross by MTB. I recommend the ascent from the Berliner Turm signpost (coming from the Ringgau) to the Spitzenberg (423m above sea level), which is steep but doable. From there, continue along the ridge to the summit cross on the Stahrenberg. From here either back or down, over a steep path, with four steps, to the Wichtelbrunnen.
It would also be important to be considerate of hikers, as this section of the trail is part of the premium hiking trail P19.
