This gem was awakened in 2011 within the IBA from the Dornrößchenschlaf. As the dike was raised, along the Harburger Chausee a foot and bike path was created on which one can stroll undisturbed. Old houseboats bob along the shore.

The Spreehafen is an eleven-acre, triangular harbor basin, which was completed in 1907. It served primarily as a catch basin for inland vessels, which found no place in the growing port operations. These vessels used for storage or administrative purposes are typical of the Spreehafen to this day. Built of wood with a flat sloping roof, painted yellow, blue and green, between cranes, wooden pontoons and shrubbery, they give the Spreehafen an alternative, dreamy coat of paint.

In 2013, the customs fence was demolished and this area became accessible. The opening of the Spreehafen is not only signaled by the stairs, two of which are in the immediate vicinity of the residential areas. For the development of the Spreehafen included an improved route connection, an improved cycle path and finally the connection of the ferry 73 to the Spreehafen. (Ferry pier first-August lock).
