The Am Sandtorkai / Dalmannkai district is the first HafenCity district to be fully completed in 2009. The eight new buildings at Sandtorkai (1–8) are located north of the central harbor basin designed as a traditional ship harbor; The areas directly opposite the UNESCO World Heritage Site Speicherstadt share roughly half of the space for office and residential use. To the south of the harbor basin extends the long stretch of land of Dalmannkai with its 15 newly created building ensembles (9–23), in which residential use predominates.
