Botazzo is a village at the end of Val Rosandra, close to Mount Stena and Mount Carso. It is almost uninhabited, in fact it has about 20 inhabitants. The most interesting point of the place is the old tollbooth on the border with Slovenia.

Karst village about 13 km from Trieste, in the heart of Val Rosandra, mostly frequented by passing hikers. The presence of a tavern is a stimulus and a call to visit this place born in conjunction with the many mills that populated the valley from the Middle Ages to the mid-twentieth century. The tranquility in Bottazzo is guaranteed: at the beginning of the 2000s only 3 residents were registered.
