The Fratelli Longo Refuge is located at 2,026 meters in Val Brembana in the middle of the Bergamo Orobic Pre-Alps. Its position allows you to enjoy the fantastic landscape, the surrounding peaks and to spot local fauna such as marmots and ibex.
To get to the refuge, you start from Carona and after 2/3 hours, depending on your level of training, you reach your destination.

Reachable in two hours of climbing on the dirt road, in summer the walk is tiring due to the full sun. I recommend staying in the refuge to those who want to reach higher goals. Or, as a resting point before the short 15-minute walk to Black Lake.

Recently renovated, the refuge features a solid wood dining room and new windows. The lunch service is fully organized and top-notch, even on busy weekends.
Reachable via an easy dirt road, it's a starting point for the easy Devil's Lake, as well as for more challenging hikes like the Selletta Pass or Mount Aga, or even a circular route passing by the Calvi refuge on the way back.

I stayed for one night. I appreciated the kindness of the staff, the good food and the view of the stars (they say one of the most beautiful in Bergamo). The view of the mountains at sunset and sunrise is fantastic.
Unfortunately the path to reach it is almost all on an asphalt road, tiring under the sun (I prefer natural paths, with slopes like that). However, cheered by the flow of water and some waterfalls. The next day we left for another refuge and at high altitude, the view and the paths were exceptional, we were also lucky enough to see ibex.

This on the map is the Longo brothers refuge, not the Calvi as mistakenly written.
The ref. Calvi is located on the shore of a lake.
Longo is easily reachable from Carona along a paved road, steep but also doable by children, very tiring in the summer heat. However, the most beautiful paths are found beyond the refuge (for example the one towards the very nearby Black Lake where the ibex pass), so it is the perfect place to organize an overnight stay and then reach more distant peaks.
