Cut. Nutrients and turbidity from the tributaries of the dam can sink in the pre-dams and thus do not get into the main reservoir.

In addition, the pre-barriers also fulfill ecological tasks, e.g. as rest areas for the flora and fauna. While the water level in the main dam constantly fluctuates, it remains constant in the pre-dams. In this way, constant living conditions are created for a species-rich flora and fauna.

At the pre-locks z. B. different species of geese, such as gray and Canada geese, settled as breeding birds.

In addition to the pre-dams, biological compensation areas such as wet biotopes or orchards were created and deciduous forests were reforested in the area around the dam to compensate for the interventions caused by the dam construction. ... "
