A Gumpen is Middle High German a deep point in a body of water. Here horses were soaked, which had to pull logs for removal to the way.

The Rossgumpen is a slightly larger pool on the Gertelsbach. The waterfalls make a great landscape and a hiking trail always leads along the stream; Roßgumpen and Gertelsbach waterfalls are ideal in hot weather and also suitable for families with children; Also very popular with photographers.
