The imperial palace in Goslar was built between 1040 and 1050 under Emperor Heinrich III. built. For more than 200 years, the imperial palace was the preferred place of residence of the German emperors and countless imperial diets were held in the huge halls. Today, the imperial palace is the largest and best-preserved secular building from the 11th century.

You can visit the Imperial Palace all year round and every day. Admission is €7.50 for adults and €4.50 for children.

Opening hours:
April to October 10 a.m. to 5 p.m
November to March 10 a.m. to 4 p.m

The imperial house on the site of the imperial palace in Goslar is a two-storey hall building, the largest secular building of the 11th and 12th centuries. The murals of the Kaisersaal are designed as a cycle. The large-scale oil paintings were made by Hermann Wislicenus between 1877 and 1897. The central picture: Wilhelm I on horseback with an ensemble of people from the history of the show, who support and exaggerate his empire (source Wikipedia).
My family often visited Goslar as a child. I always found the large paintings in the Kaisersaal overwhelming. That is why I put the central image together from several photos in order to reproduce the representation as best as possible.

With its extensive exhibition on the history of the wandering empire, the Imperial Palace is a "must" for every visitor to Goslar.
The Imperial Palace, built between 1040 and 1050 under Henry III, is a unique monument of secular architecture. For over 200 years, German and European history was "made" here at numerous imperial and court meetings.
The St. Ulrich Palace Chapel, which adjoins it to the south, contains the heart of the emperor, who died in 1056, under a gravestone with a figurative depiction of Henry III.

Both buildings were extensively restored in the late 19th century, and the hall of the Imperial House was painted by the historical painter H. Wislicenus.
On the ground floor, the large exhibition in seven vaults shows outstanding art treasures such as the bronze imperial throne or the mysterious "griffin" that once adorned the gable and watched over the Imperial Palace.
