Story
The monastery was founded in 1365 by Franz Munzmeister, a citizen of Bamberg. When the Hussites invaded in 1430, in the Peasants' War in 1626 and last but not least in the Thirty Years' War, the monastery was severely damaged. It was dissolved in 1803 in the course of secularization. In 1806 the last 13 nuns had to leave the convent. The church was used for military purposes. The monastery, which had served as a military hospital, was demolished around 1874. In 1923 the monastery church was restored. In 1926 the convent of the Holy Sepulcher was rebuilt, and on September 3rd Dominican nuns from St. Ursula in Augsburg moved into the convent. In 1930 the convent was raised back to an independent priory.
The monastery is known for its weaving and embroidery, a tradition that dates back to the 15th century and was taken up again by the nuns in 1926.

The original legend says that the church (even before the monastery) was built on the site of the found hosts as atonement for a host robbery allegedly committed in 1314 by the St. Gangolf monastery. The church was built in a single nave, has a light-filled choir and a wooden gallery in the west. Parts of the former furnishings are in the Church of St. Gangolf in Bamberg and in the Diocesan Museum there. The grave of the lay sister Maria Columba Schonath, who was stigmatized, has been in the southern side chapel since 1787
