For over half a century, the Tourist Tower has stood at the highest point of Herentals. The current tower opened in May 1985. The structure has 112 wooden steps that lead you to a height of 22 meters. At the end of the climb, you are rewarded with a breathtaking view of the surroundings.
On the top floor is an orientation table where you can read the direction and distance to over a hundred church spires. Some claim that on a clear day you can even see the twinkling spheres of the Atomium. Even more impressive than the view is the deafening silence that descends upon you once you rise above the treetops. Be sure to take the time to listen to nothing for a moment.

You can climb this tower for 1 euro. You can also have a drink at this location in the middle of the woods. There is no table service but self service,

40 meters high, the 24-meter high observation tower rises above the Bosbergen. It was built on the occasion of the world exhibition in 1958 to put the city of Herentals in the spotlight with its unadapted environment. Today for our grandchildren it is still an experience to climb the 112 steps. In 1980 the tower was struck by lightning and was closed for 3 years. Since 1985, many tourists can do justice to the Tourist Tower.
