A hike on the Rumberg-Steig can be a special experience. It goes over the former military area area, high up to the steep summit of the Rumberg up to five tower-like rocks, which are called Ostfels, Lochfels, Wasp Rock, Habichtsfels and Kastenfels. As a starting point of the path you take the village square of Ludwigswinkel. The route is one of the heavier trails in the region, as the climb is quite steep. After having covered the valley passage, a narrow path goes up to Guggebühl. This mountain lies on the east side of a rock massif. From there it goes parallel to the Wasgau lakes tour through the beautiful Sauerland. There are some ways to stop off at the track. The last part of the trail goes past idyllic ponds and at the Rösselsquelle, until you reach the starting point again. The Rumberg-Steig is one of the premium hiking trails that meander through the Dahn Rockland and is called the Felsenland Tour. The total distance is 11.2 kilometers and this can be covered in a duration of 4 hours. Ascent and descent are 240 meters in altitude. Two popular restaurants are the Hotel Blick zum Maimont and the Restaurant zum Landgrafen, which is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Rösselquelle restaurant is also very popular and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner as a delicious buffet.

Ostfels, Lochfels, Wespenfels, Habichtfels and Kastenfels are located on the long ridge of the Rumberg. According to the DAV rock information system, their maximum rock height is 20 meters.

Lochfels, Sattelfels and Spitzer Fels are also nearby; here you have to keep your eyes open!
