      As its name suggests, the tower built around 1408 was used to store gunpowder and is one of the three towers of the northern flank.

      Using the example of the Powder Tower, a frequently practiced construction method of medieval buildings of this type can very well be explained: for the sake of simplicity and probably also for economic reasons, the towers were left open to the city side.
