    Many stones and windows are almost 500 years old and have been preserved in their original form. During a guided tour, the doors of several chambers are opened that are otherwise not open to the public, such as the spolia chamber with casts and originals of the sculptures and figures of the tower, as well as the inscription and bell chamber.
    With 76 bells, the Red Tower is the largest carillon in Europe. The carillon was installed for the opening of the Handel Festival in 1993 and has a total weight of almost 55 tons. The largest bell bears the name "Dame Handel" - in keeping with the Handel city of Halle - and weighs eight tons.

      The Red Tower, a free-standing bell tower, together with the towers of the Marktkirche, is the city's landmark. The construction of the 84 meter high tower was completed in 1506. With its 76 bells, the Red Tower has the largest carillon in Europe and the third largest carillon in the world. The five clock bells acoustically indicate the time every quarter of an hour. Since the melody of the clock chime corresponds exactly to that of Big Ben in London, this tone is also called the "Westminster chime".
