The ascent of about 225 steps allows visitors an extraordinary panoramic view of the city hall. A tour and guided tour in groups of up to 12 people is possible. Registration at the Stadtmuseum, Christian-Wolff-Haus

The Market Church of Our Lady, also known as St. Mary's Church, is the city's landmark with its red tower. In 1529, Cardinal Albrecht combined two medieval churches, the Gertruden Church with its blue towers and St. Mary's Church, to form today's Market Church. With its three-aisled hall structure, it is one of the most important late Gothic churches in Central Germany. The church contains the baptismal font where George Frideric Handel was baptized. Luther's death mask can be viewed, as can the Hausmann towers.
