The new planetarium of the city of Halle (Saale) on Holzplatz was officially opened on March 30, 2023. From March 30th to April 2nd, 2023, the city invites you to a four-day opening program with presentations, guided tours and events in the new planetarium.

The planetarium of the city of Halle (Saale) is a replacement building for the former space flight planetarium on the Peißnitz. The new building in a former gasometer was financed with flood aid funds, the costs amounted to 21 million euros. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on January 21, 2019. The largest planetarium in Saxony-Anhalt is the most modern planetarium in Europe with its technical equipment and its content concept. The combination of star hall, observatory and barrier-free, large observation platform is unique in Germany.

After the old planetarium on the Peißnitzinsel was destroyed during the 2013 flood, a new building has now been built in the former gasometer on the Holzplatz / Salineinsel.

It has the actual planetarium in the "Star Hall", plus several training and cinema rooms, a library and an observatory on the roof terrace

Official opening was on 03/30/2023, now you can visit it. The wait was worth it
