      Lech "fall" is not entirely correct. It is the Lech weir, which had to be renovated or rebuilt over and over again over the years. Very interesting even at high tide!

                                    The Karolinenwehr is a four-stage raid weir on the Lech near the old town of Landsberg am Lech.

                                    To the right of the weir, which was probably built in 1364, is the Mühlbach, which used to drive mills and is now used to generate electricity. The originally single-stage weir was damaged several times by floods, some of which were severely damaged, and was expanded in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries by installing additional stages. The weir has been rebuilt several times in the past decades, most recently between 1993 and 1996.

                                    There was a bypass for rafting, on which rafts could be guided around the weir over the wooden plank route of the “Long Ride” for a fee. After the decline of rafting in the 20th century, the “Long Voyage” was canceled in the 1970s. The Karolinenbrücke is located directly above the weir. The bridge has a prestressed concrete beam with a constant height over 5 fields and offers two lanes as well as pedestrian paths over the Lech and represents one of three main entrances to Landsberg city center. On the west side of the bridge there is a sculpture depicting Father Lech.
