At the same time as the Hofburggarten was being laid out, the first glass house was built by the court building director Ludwig von Remy, in which newly introduced plants, mainly from Asia and America, were planted. In 1881, areas in the northwestern part of the garden were given up for the construction of the New Hofburg. In 1901, Remy's old glass house was finally removed and a new glass house was erected according to Friedrich Ohmann's plans by the end of 1903 as a glass and iron construction with two stone corner avant-corps and a similar central avant-corps.

The garden was not accessible to the public until the end of the monarchy.

Today the Burggarten is one of the most popular areas in the city centre.

The Ohmann glass house was completely renovated in 1998. Since then, the butterfly house with tropical plants and over 50 species of butterflies has been in the left wing, the middle part is used as a café-restaurant. The right wing serves as a winter house for the botanical collections of the Austrian Federal Gardens and is used for exhibitions and various events during the summer months.

The original, classicist greenhouse was built from 1823 to 1826 according to plans by Ludwig von Remy and was architecturally based on the orangery in Schönbrunn. The back wall of the building was part of what was then Vienna's city wall. After the greenhouse had been demolished around the turn of the century, a new building was built in 1902–1906, influenced by Art Nouveau, based on designs by the court architect Friedrich Ohmann. The decorations on the central wing (vases, female figures with wreaths, boys) were made by Josef Václav Myslbek.

The Vienna Burggarten (B1/B2/C2) was laid out in 1818 as the Emperor's private garden on an area of 38,000 m², adjoining the Hofburg - delimited by the Ringstrasse on the front and by the Albertina on the back.

The Burggarten Vienna was created after the Hofburg-bounded by the ring road at the front and by the Albertina on the back- in 1818 as a private garden of the emperor on an area of 38,000 m².
                        History:
Just like the Volksgarten, the responsible planners for this park were Ludwig Gabriel von Remy and the court gardener Franz Antoine the Elder. The peculiarity was that Emperor Franz as a trained gardener at that time even participated in the design and made the selection of novel plants from around the world. Over the years, some remodeling measures have been implemented, the style of an English landscaped garden introduced and created a pond.

The Burggarten Vienna is a beautiful park. It opened in 1862 and was Vienna's first public park. It is popular with both tourists and locals who come here to stroll, relax, play or admire the many monuments and sculptures. The Burggarten is also known for its musical tradition, as the famous Strauss monument dedicated to the waltz king Johann Strauss Sohn is located here. Also in the park is the Kursalon, a magnificent concert hall where classical music and operettas are regularly performed. The Burggarten is therefore a place of art, culture and nature in the middle of the city. 😊
