The Catholic Church of St. Peter and Paul is centrally located in Potsdam's city center and closes the Brandenburger Straße to the east, at the western end of which stands the Potsdam Brandenburg Gate. The current church was completed in 1870 and served equally the Potsdam parish (which today belongs to the Archbishopric of Berlin) and the Catholic soldiers who were stationed in the city. Since 1992 she has the status of a Propsteikirche.

At the eastern end of Brandenburger Straße in Potsdam stands the Catholic Church of St. Peter and Paul. The most striking feature of the yellow brick building is the nearly 60-meter high, Italian bell tower. Built from 1867 to 1870, it was decorated with Byzantine and Romanesque stylistic elements and had several predecessor buildings in various parts of the city. The design for the St. Peter and Paul Church comes from August Stüler and Wilhelm Salzenberg.

Inside are three paintings by Antoine Pesne, one of the greatest artists of the Baroque and Rococo: the high altarpiece "The Fear of Christ" and the two pictures of the side altars with the Rosary and the Guardian Angel.
In addition, there is an organ in the church with 41 registers by Schuke from 1936. Sculptor Franz Thamm created the Madonna figure, which stands in the sanctuary of St. Peter and Paul Potsdam.
