After forty years of being in the shadows as a result of the war and the establishment of a strictly guarded sanatorium for the Soviet armed forces, the construction of the new thermal baths and the restoration of the adjacent spa park between 1995 and 2000 marked a continuation of Bad Saarow's heyday in the 1920s and 1930s. The design of the five-hectare open space takes up the potential of the complex created by Ludwig Lesser around 1910 with its diverse open spaces and stately spa facilities and villas. Guests stroll along wide, curved paths through the garden with its old trees and always have the Scharmützelsee in view. The sculptures in the spa park also help to give this recreational area a diverse appearance. The design of the park was particularly recognized at the German Landscape Architecture Prize in 2001.

Originally created in 1910 by the garden architect Ludwig Lesser, the spa park was a prohibited area during GDR times and part of the sanatorium of the Soviet Army. Today you can walk there very well and enjoy nature.
