The gold-plated brass biscuit that the "Bahlsen men" transport in front of the Leibniz headquarters (founded in 1889) was stolen in January 2013. A "cookie monster" made claims but denied the theft. After Bahlsen had promised to donate 52,000 packs of biscuits to social institutions, the golden biscuit reappeared and was reassembled on July 11, 2003. Bahlsen donated the biscuits to 52 organizations. The investigation has been discontinued.
