The town hall is not the entire historic building you see here, just the part with the stairs. The building next to it is the former cloth hall. The first town hall of Zoutleeuw dates from 1359 and was located elsewhere. This town hall was built from 1530 and was finished in 1538. • The town hall was built in a style that is somewhere between the
late gothic and early renaissance.
• Originally the town hall had a tower that was demolished in 1796.
• At the foot of the town hall tower you can still see the remains of the first
defensive wall around the city from the 12th century.
• OPENING HOURS
• Open from Tuesday to Friday from 10 am to 12 noon and from 1.30 pm to
4.30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday open from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1.30 p.m. to 5 p.m
o'clock. These are the hours in the tourist season from April to September.
In the winter season: open from Tuesday to Friday from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm.
Closed on Mondays.
