    A cycling and hiking trail leads directly over the dam wall of the dam. On the one hand you have a beautiful view of the reservoir and on the other hand over Astfeld and the valley behind it.

      A visit to the dam is worthwhile in every season. Shortly before the Harzwasserwerke in Herzog-Juliushütte you can park the car in the hiking car park and take the short path to the dam. The Granetalsperre is impressive and idyllic in any weather.

                                    An impressive structure. When the weather is nice, you can watch the small fish on the banks and at the dam. It is very quiet and you have a wonderful view of the water and of the dam from the forest hiking trails.
