The Evangelical Lutheran St. John's Church in Scheibenberg was built between 1559 and 1571 and is an important example of 16th century church architecture. The single-nave church building contains a late Gothic carved winged altar and a life-size wooden crucifix from the early days. The Baroque galleries with paintings date from the first half of the 18th century. Under the north gallery is the mining office's lodge with two carved miners holding a double coat of arms. The tower, begun in 1697, was completed in 1774. It was extensively renovated between 2010 and 2016, and at the same time the three cast iron bells that had been installed after the Second World War to replace the earlier bronze bells that had been handed over due to the war were replaced by a new four-part bronze bell chime. The largest of the iron bells that were replaced now stands on the lawn in front of the church.
