Particularly beautiful here: the small shelter hut right on the road - and opposite (a little higher) a resting place (2 benches with a table) - all built by the Johanniskreuz Forestry Office.
My research at the Johanniskreuz Forestry Office (Forstrevier Elmstein) showed in July 2021 that the original fire beech, which was officially designated as a "natural monument" here, has NOT existed since 1994 because it had to be felled.
Then the sign "Brandbuche" was simply hung on a younger beech tree.
Now "Brandbuche" no longer describes a "natural monument", but simply a popular, small place and resting point on this road in the Palatinate Forest.

The road sign indicates a height of 524 m at the site of the fire beech. In one direction it goes towards Johanniskreuz, the other towards Iggelbach.
