Great climb! It's really fun. Not suitable for small children and dogs over 7 kg. Especially downhill there are very narrow passages, so you can hardly turn with a backpack. The jagged grid floors and steep ladders are not for 4-legged friends. Especially at times when there are many tourists, I imagine it to be very annoying.

The staircase known as the "Oststeig" leads up to the Gohrisch over 325 steps and 95 meters in altitude. In the lower section, you climb quite comfortably over a few wooden steps, which are increasingly replaced by stone steps as you get higher. Almost at the top, there are still 6 wooden splays to overcome. Unfortunately, these are the last wooden splays in the entire Vordere Sächsische Schweiz.

The Gohrisch (448 m) can be hiked from several directions, from the health resort of the same name Gohrisch, from Papstdorf or from Cunnersdorf. The easiest starting point for an ascent is the Papststein car park (340 m) on the road from Papstdorf to the health resort Gohrisch. The Gohrisch, which is also called Gohrischstein, can be reached via three different paths. On the east side, a path leads up from the Papststein car park, the other two paths are on the west side. With only 110 meters of altitude to be climbed, you can easily try all three ascents / descents when visiting Gohrisch.

The Gohrisch (incorrectly also Gohrischstein), 447.8 m above sea level, is a table mountain in Saxon Switzerland on the left bank of the Elbe. Its name derives from the Slavic word gora, meaning mountain. The Gohrisch is located about four kilometers southeast of Königstein and about three kilometers southwest of Bad Schandau in the middle of a plateau (flatness) dominated by other similar rocky mountains. The surrounding mountains are the Papststein, the Kleinhennersdorfer Stein, and the Laasensteine. For tourism, this microregion in Saxon Switzerland is often referred to as the Area of Stones. At the foot of the Gohrisch lie the small towns of Kurort Gohrisch and Papstdorf, which belong to the municipality of Gohrisch. On the eastern side, a soapstone tunnel bears witness to earlier mining attempts. In the immediate vicinity is a small, overgrown quarry where basalt was mined for road gravel.
