              The mysterious Stone Age calendar
              In the forest near Wölferlingen in the Westerwald, surrounded by beautiful nature, there is an arrangement of basalt stones that still puzzles archaeologists today. The stones form a tapered triangle, the exact meaning of which remains unclear. But one thing is certain: these stones have a very special connection to the sun. It is believed that our ancestors used the Stone Age calendar to mark the beginning and end of summer time - and thus the time of sowing and harvesting.
              What is special about this place? On only two days a year, on April 7th and September 4th, the sun rises on the horizon at exactly 6:45 a.m. in a line above the tip of this triangle. An impressive spectacle that you have to experience at least once.

                Watching the sunrise here is very interesting. The information on the sign is helpful. I was lucky enough to be part of a group with an expert hiking guide. The tour is currently offered twice a year by "Typisch Westerwald." A wonderful experience, weather permitting.
