At the Stöffel Tertiary and Industrial Adventure Park, you can experience Earth's history. This unique industrial complex documents the 100-year history of basalt mining, showing you the once hard work at the Stöffel mine and the processing of the rock. It's worth taking a guided tour of Stöffel Park. You can find all the information here: stoeffelpark.de

We visited Stöffelpark with three dogs. It was pleasantly uncomplicated and hassle-free. Our question as to whether this was possible was answered with a "dog treat" for each of our furry friends.

The park itself focuses on two themes: first, it is an impressive industrial monument, and second, it offers interesting insights into the history of the earth. Incidentally, there are many spots offering magnificent views of the surrounding area. Also worth seeing are the small lake and the adjacent rock gardens.

Recommendation: follow the orange markings.

Unfortunately, we couldn't look for fossils ourselves, as there weren't any available at the time...
A bit of a shame for the kids.

A magnificent old industrial site of the former basalt processing plant at Stöffel. The old facilities were simply left standing and not demolished as usual. A piece of industrial history in the Westerwald. The park is open to visitors and often provides a backdrop for outdoor events held several times a year. Dogs are allowed. The park is complemented by the old historic workshop/metalworking shop, as well as a café and restrooms. Guided tours are available. Further information can be found on the website:

Information about the relevant geology is also available here. And those who wish can enjoy a fantastic overview from the observation tower above the park.
