The cathedral treasury displays liturgical vessels and equipment, finely embroidered vestments and textiles, books, paintings and sculptures, devotional objects and precious glass. The presentation begins with baroque exhibits from the environment of the Saxon court after the conversion of Augustus the Strong. In their splendor and artistic execution, they not only reflect his time, but also document the return of Catholicism in the Saxon part of the old diocese of Meissen. The oldest piece in the cathedral treasury is a portable altar from the Lower Rhine, made using the Limoges enamel technique and dated around 1220. The collection, some of which are still used today for high feasts, thus shows almost 800 years of church life and religious art in the region.

Behind the cathedral is the cathedral chapter, it houses the cathedral treasury of St. Petri, as well as the diocesan archive and library of the Dresden-Meissen diocese. The magnificent baroque portal shows the coat of arms of the cathedral chapter and the Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit). Next to it are angels and figures of saints, really worth seeing.
