Extensive redesign and renovation work has been carried out at the Papiermühlenwehr barbecue and rest area. The idyllic location directly on the Sprotte River is a popular rest stop for many hikers and cyclists. The barbecue grill, which was deliberately destroyed a few years ago, has been replaced with a new outdoor grill, and a bicycle parking facility has been built. Let's hope the area doesn't fall victim to vandalism again.

The area in the northwest of the city is home to fallow deer, ponies, dwarf goats and a stubborn family of donkeys. There are also guinea pigs, rabbits, swans, geese and bantams. The male peacocks, who move freely in the Sahnpark and proudly show off their magnificent plumage to visitors, sometimes have a few "starry airs". The animal enclosure is completed by an adventure playground, a nature trail and a "green classroom". This is primarily available for school and kindergarten children.
