An idyllic place on the Steinau

The transformer station at the intersection of Möllner Straße and Heideweg in Büchen attracts attention. A lively and cheerful scene refers to the nearby forest swimming pool in Büchen. What is special: the bathers are a whole flock of small animals that have gathered there for a happy outing. Geese, storks, beavers and many more meet there, laden with picnic baskets, beach towels, handcarts and swimming rings. The facade painting, which spans all four walls, is a commissioned work by the company art-EFX, which has already individually worked on a large number of gray facades. Great connecting route between Steinkrug and Franzhagen.

The New Mill is so called because it was built in 1625-1626 to replace the old mill that was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War. For a new mill, it is therefore quite old and is also a property registered as a cultural monument. It was formerly fed by the Mühlenbek, to which the Bäk from Schulendorf also feeds the water.

You can have a picnic break or siesta in the grass next to the bridge by the stream. The local connecting road, which can be described as a secondary route, is rarely used by cars and has mostly good pavement and is a highlight in itself.
