Built in the 13th century on a rock overlooking the town of Bourbon-l'Archambault, this castle controlled the ancient roads. It was the first castle of the Bourbon dynasty. It will remain a "symbolic building" of the family's power.

The Étang de Pirot is an artificial lake created in 1846 to supply water to the Canal de Berry, a historic waterway that linked the Loire and the Cher. The pond covers an area of 78 hectares and is surrounded by the Tronçais forest, one of the largest oak forests in Europe. You can enjoy the view of the water, trees and wildlife as you walk along the shore or explore the two arms of the lake: the Cros-Chaud and the Guèrande. The Etang de Pirot is an ideal destination for a peaceful and refreshing hike in all seasons.

City of character in the hollow of a valley in the Bourbonnais bocage. Known for its thermal waters since antiquity. It is also the cradle of the kings of France, as evidenced by the imposing medieval castle, clinging to a rocky promontory.

Around the ponds in the Tronçais forest, the wooden footbridges avoid muddy passages for walkers. It is possible to take them by mountain bike even if some start and end with two or three steps. Some cannot be avoided and you have to be careful in rainy weather because the wood becomes VERY slippery!
