There are only two roads running through the area of Prats de Molló and la Presta, one of them the general road of the Vallespir valley (D115, in Voló - Coll d'Ares), which connects the entire valley almost always, from the stretch between Prats de Molló and the Coll d'Ares, parallel to the course of the Tec. This road has a variant, the D115a, which from Prats de Molló follows the Tec upstream and leads to Hostalets, la Farga and Banys de la Presta, where it does a double one-way route, reaching Plananera.

Only since the 1960s has there been an official border crossing to Spain 16 km away. For centuries, smuggling flourished on lonely mountain paths over the 1,513 m high Col d'Ares.
