Great idea - perfectly executed.

An imposing and eye-catching rock formation, located directly next to the cycle path.

The paths are currently in very poor condition, with the old staircase being the best. The area around the tower is neglected, so the view is the best. The facade and inscriptions on the tower are very beautiful, but the interior appears to be in poor condition; the shutters flap open and shut in the wind.

The rugged rocks and the landscape itself are very impressive. The Brachwitz Alps were formed by volcanic activity around 300 million years ago. The reddish volcanic rock is easy to recognize.

The listed Bismarck Tower in Wettin is an observation tower built to honor Otto von Bismarck. Planning for the tower began in 1899. The initial designs included two braziers, but these were scrapped due to the fire hazard to the surrounding trees. Construction of the tower, designed by the architect Conrad from Leipzig, began on October 4, 1904, and completed in May 1905. The official inauguration took place on June 4, 1905. The Bismarck Tower stands on the Grosser Schweizerling hill, west-northwest of the Wettin town center. It was built of porphyry stone and its appearance strongly resembles some North German city gates, particularly those of Stendal. The tower is 21.5 meters high. With the renaming and rededication of the tower as a Peace Tower after World War II in 1950, the references to Bismarck disappeared. They were not reinstalled until 1992. Among them is a plaque with the inscription: We Germans fear God and nothing else in the world.
