Beautifully decorated, and so is the freight car. There's obviously a functioning institution here. The lawns at the rest areas are mowed, the trash cans are empty - the shoulders along the tracks are mowed - I'm pleasantly surprised by so much care. And now the train stations are renovated and in use - that's great.

Cap d'Ailly is a remarkable natural site located in Sainte-Marguerite-sur-Mer, on the Côte d'Albâtre. It overlooks the English Channel and offers stunning views of the cliffs and the lighthouse that stands at the tip. It is a unique place that brings together different types of natural environments, such as moorland with heather and gorse, which gives it a little air of Scotland or Brittany. Cap d'Ailly is a property of the Conservatoire du littoral, managed by the Department of Seine-Maritime.

Located in the heart of the forest that covers Cap d'Ailly, this lighthouse is the third lighthouse built in this location. The first lighthouse, put into service in 1775, will be decommissioned in 1899 because it no longer meets the standards for receiving adequate optics. There is no longer any trace of it due to the erosion of the cliff which is particularly strong in this place. It crumbled to disappear definitively in 1968. The second lighthouse was commissioned in September 1899 and blown up by the German army in August 1944. The current lighthouse was built in 1951 and commissioned in 1958. At the foot of the lighthouse rests an imposing riveted steel spindle buoy that sits like a work of art. Built in 1896, it was used to warn sailors of the dangers of the shore.
