Cycle path over the Sieg, due to lack of other alternatives.

The signposted Siegradweg (D4 - Mittelland Route) runs from Kirchen (Sieg) directly alongside the busy B 62. A separate route is available just before Betzdorf. From Betzdorf, the "cycle path" then continues directly along the B 62 or along uneven combined cycle and footpaths alongside the federal highway. It's not exactly fun.

The Siegtal Cycle Path (D 4 - Mittelland Route) runs between Kirchen (Sieg) and Betzdorf directly alongside the busy federal highway B62. It's quite unpleasant. In Betzdorf, there's a short section on a dedicated route. After that, the "cycle path" continues on and alongside the federal highway. It's not fun.

Great rest stop while running.

Very nice train station in the middle of town. Plenty of free parking directly at the station. Lots of local and express trains stop between Aachen, Lützel and Siegen. Ideal access for commuters and cyclists.

Kirchen station was opened in 1861 for the Betzdorf - Siegen branch line of the Deutz-Gießen railway. Over the years, the Cologne - Siegen connection gained in importance and became the main line, today's "Siegstrecke".
