The Kamalahila Institute is not a monastery in the traditional sense, but rather a center for Buddhist studies and meditation. Since 1999, it has served as the European residence of His Holiness (spiritual leader of the Karma Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism) and offers a variety of seminars and courses on topics such as Buddhism, meditation, mindfulness, and stress management. Although the institute is housed in a former Christian monastery, it now functions as an educational and meeting center.
