The Herford small railway once steamed where the Maiwiese is today. The former railway line is now a beautiful park along the Bolldammbach. Seating and a playground are also ideal for a hiking break.

The Liesbergmühle is in a very well-maintained condition and can also be milled! It was founded in 1756 by the Prussian state as a royal mill. The surrounding farmers had to have their grain milled here. Violations were severely punished. There are many information boards on the mill site that also describe the outbuildings. There is also an interesting audio contribution via QR code. The seating options with a view of the Widukindstadt Enger are also nice.

The collegiate church in Enger dates from the 14th century. However, the location itself is much older and goes back to the time of Widukind, around the year 800. So it couldn't be more apt that even Widukind is said to have founded the church himself and even more: to be buried here as well. It will probably never be proven definitively, but at least some documents, finds and the spatial reference to Mathilde, who was born a few years later, indicate that the imposing sarcophagus in the chancel actually contains the bones of Duke Widukind of Saxony! If you have the opportunity, you should definitely take a look inside. Widukind's grave is BEHIND the altar. You can get a perfect view of it over steps. The church is open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. I don't know the other opening times.

The Widukind fountain is the official start of the Engeran hiking trails, which all start here. The fountain also symbolizes the importance of Widukind for Enger, since Enger is possibly seen as the place where Widukind worked and where he died. At least it is a fact that Widukind's descendant, Queen Mathilde, was born here, so that the fountain also refers to her, to Saxony and the Widukind legends. A QR code is attached to the fountain, which also provides a very interesting audio contribution.
