In his address on Remembrance Day in 2015, then-President Joachim Gauck expressed some thoughts that I would like to offer visitors to this war cemetery for reflection: "This... is our shared hope: that the memory of the suffering of war will not breed revenge, but will lead more and more people and nations to seek a way out in peaceful coexistence. Just as European integration succeeded in becoming the great peace project of our continent. (...) That military cemeteries, as Albert Schweitzer once said, may finally become the great preachers of peace. Then, as we have experienced, reconciliation over the graves will be possible. Then peace can be lasting. We all share this responsibility."

Yes, it's useful—or, if you prefer that word, practical—to know a hiking parking lot as a starting point for your tour, or to find it here in the komoot system when planning. However, I personally imagine something more beautiful as a true "highlight" that would actually deserve the name, especially since the forest chapel located here, which is worth seeing, is listed as a standalone highlight in the komoot system. The former water tower in Rheinbach is located in the city park in the south of the city, not far from the comprehensive school. The tower was once part of Rheinbach's first water and electricity plant, which began operations in 1897. The waterworks and tower were in operation until 1948. After temporary uses, such as for fire hose maintenance, and renovations, the building was used as a studio for the artist Udo Edelmann, who died in 2019, and as a gallery. https://bonn.wiki/wiki/Wasserturm_Rheinbach

The ride through the apple orchards is a pleasure at any time.

A fantastic section of the "Rhineland Apple Route," great for cycling any time of year. It's especially beautiful when the fruit trees are in bloom.

This pillar was reconstructed near Lüftelberg, reminiscent of the bridge that carried the Roman Eifel aqueduct over the stream of the Swisttal. It is said to have been 1400 m long and consisted of almost 300 brick arches. Next to the pillar there are information boards and a bench for resting.
