There are numerous well-marked hiking trails through heathland, forests, and moorlands. The heath is particularly beautiful in late summer, when it blooms in all its vibrant colors.

The typical heath vegetation, with its flowering heather and rare plant species, and the impressive sand and dune formations give the Wahner Heide its unique charm. From sunny yellow broom blossoms in spring and purple heather in late summer to colorful foliage in autumn and a beautiful winter landscape, the Wahner Heide fascinates in every season and offers picturesque photo opportunities. Come and experience the beautiful flora and fauna of the Wahner Heide up close on the Moorwaldweg (Moor Forest Trail), the Heideweg (Heath Trail), or on the Heide Rider (Heath Rider)!

From the Luisenstraße bridge, one can see the Agger river in its natural course with partly wooded banks that provide habitat for numerous animal and plant species.

Here we hike through beautiful birch stands, which are somewhat reminiscent of the moor birch forests in the High Fens.

A visit to the heath is particularly worthwhile during the heather blossom period from mid-August.

The memorial stands in the Wahner Heide near Troisdorf-Spich and commemorates a tragic accident on August 3, 1973, in which seven Belgian soldiers of the Ardennes Hunters Regiment were killed in a vehicle crash. Not far from the accident site, the Troisdorf Local History Society erected a memorial plaque in 2003 bearing the names of the victims to permanently honor the event.
