The tower at the summit of Aavasaksa hill is a 13-meter-high red brick observation tower built in 1969. The tower is open to the public year-round and provides a 360-degree view of the surrounding landscape, including the Tornio and Tengeliö rivers. The tower also stands above the historical geodetic measurement point used by Pierre Louis Maupertuis in the 18th century and later by the Struve Geodetic Arc, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Picnic area with benches/tables between the main road and the Torneträsk river in the village of Hedenäset. Despite the location within sight of the houses opposite, nobody minds if you pitch a tent here. Locals recommended this place to me. As always: behave yourself and leave no trace. There was practically no traffic on the road when I visited. I had a great night here. But beware: mosquitoes galore!

Great apartments built directly on the granite rock. Connected by wooden paths and stairs. Each chalet is for 2 people, each with a great view. Three sides are covered with mirrored glass, through which you can look out from the bed, but not in from the outside. The resource naturally includes a restaurant, spa area, café, etc.

Here you cross the border of the Arctic Circle. The shield is in a parking lot where you can take a break. Right next to it there is a small shop (restaurant).

The best preserved 18th century church of northern Sweden. Inside is one of the oldest organs that still is played. It was built 1609bin Berlin (Germany) for a German church in Stockholm. But then the community of ö Övertorneå bought it in 1777. There is also a very rare type of Madonna.
