Construction of a chapel on Lake Tåsjön began in 1762, and it was consecrated in 1773. A tower was added by 1800. This first chapel was demolished in 1881. The present wooden church was built a few kilometers west of the former chapel between 1872 and 1878 according to plans by the architect Emil Viktor Langlet. The three-aisled basilica, with a wide and a short central nave, is adjoined to the east by a two-story sacristy and to the west by a church tower with an octagonal lantern. The church was remodeled in 1957, during which the porches along the long sides were removed. The pulpit likely dates from the time of the first chapel. It was painted in 1815 by Mårten Olofsson from Hallen. The organ is new, having been installed in 2001 by Grönlunds Orgelbyggeri.

The village of Norråker has lost around 200 inhabitants since the 1960s (and consequently lost its status as an independent municipality in 1990). Today, just over eighty people still live in Norråker, which lies directly on the northern border of Jämtland. Västerbotten begins immediately beyond the village.

In their charming shop in the village center, owners Ida and Johannes Collin maintain the atmosphere of a true country store. They primarily offer regionally and locally produced goods – from groceries to handicrafts. Norråkers Handel is the only shop within a fifty-kilometer radius. It has everything you need for daily life, along with friendly service and a pleasant chat. There's even a small holiday apartment for "sleeping in the general store."

Next to the SoliferPolar factory in Dorotea you will find the caravan museum. Here you can follow the sixty-year history of the development of the Polar caravans. It shows how the cold and harsh climate of Scandinavia influenced the construction of these caravans. The materials used must be able to withstand constant sub-zero temperatures and the cars must be safe to drive on snow and ice-covered roads. From the very beginning, the company has relied on real craftsmanship and therefore on solid quality. The caravans produced in Dorotea proudly bear the label "Made in Norrland".

The origins of the Polarvagnen AB company lie in the spring of 1964, when Håkan Wallin and Bertil Holmqvist began manufacturing caravans specialised for Nordic weather conditions in a barn in Junselevallen. In 1966, the factory premises were destroyed in a fire. After several stops, production finally ended up in Dorotea in 1968. The "Polarwagons" are still manufactured here today, with the polar bear designed by Ragnar Granqvist as their trademark. The company employs almost a hundred people. After the merger with the Finnish vehicle manufacturer Solifer, the company has been called SoliferPolar AB since 2004. The production of the Polar caravans remained in Dorotea.
