The oldest part of the church with the tower dates from the 12th century. From 1723 to 1733, two large cross arms were added and the nave was turned 90 degrees, so that the old choir is now a side chapel and the tower houses the entrance hall. Magnificent ceiling paintings from this period characterize the interior of the church. In the old choir there is a baptismal font by Master Othelric from the first half of the 12th century. Very beautiful church from the Middle Ages with a modern extension in the shape of a cross. Inside wall and ceiling paintings as well as a very nice equipment.

In 1020 the construction of a stave church began. However, the Romanesque church as seen today dates from the 12th century and replaced the wooden church. This makes the sacred building in Husaby one of the oldest stone churches in Sweden. In the 14th century the building was decorated with Gothic pointed arches and a century later it received new frescoes. Some of the inventory, such as the pulpit and the altar, have been dated to the 17th century. However, important inventory of the church has been preserved from the Middle Ages: for example, an inscription on the baptismal font from the 13th century, the bishop's throne and some sculptures also come from this era.
