Memorial stone commemorating the Peaceful Revolution of November 9, 1989, at the former inner-German border on the Elbe River in Dömitz, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Several memorials in Dömitz commemorate the inner-German border and the events of the Peaceful Revolution of 1989. This memorial, made from original parts of the former border fence, has stood near Dömitz Fortress since 2015 and commemorates the former division. The fortress itself houses a permanent exhibition that explores the history of the border and provides a comprehensive insight into the developments of that time. These memorial sites in and around Dömitz keep the past alive and remind us of the importance of freedom and unity.
