One of the few witnesses to the division of Germany; if you have never seen it, you should take a look. 100 meters further on is the fortress of Dömitz, where the North German poet Fritz Reuter was imprisoned.

The railway bridge was destroyed in World War II. It was one of the longest river bridges in Germany (986 meters) It was built between 1870 and 1873
