The Ueckermünde Zoo is known far beyond the borders of the Vorpommern-Greifswald district. The facility was founded in 1962 and has continued to develop since then. What began as a local aquarium with a few additional native animals is now impressive. The enclosures for the individual animal species are spacious, and you can also come into direct contact with many of the animals. The church is an elongated plastered building with a southern and northern porch, which was consecrated in 1766. In 1866, a neo-Gothic, richly structured west tower made of brick was added. The spacious interior has double galleries to the north and south and is completed by a cove ceiling from the time of construction, which is painted with ornaments and putti and was renewed in 1891 by the Oscar Foneweit workshop. The old ducal palace had its origins in a castle (probably from the 12th century). The palace was built on its remains. It used to have four wings and later served as a meeting place for the Pomeranian state parliament. Duke Philipp built a new palace in 1546; the tower and south wing of this remain.
