The Freest local history museum at Dorfstrasse 67 may be interesting, as there should be an opportunity to find out something about the Freest fisherman's carpets that were lost during the fall of the Wall.

A tranquil village with its idyllic fishing port and wonderful bathing beach. Here you can still have close contact with the fishermen.

There is enough space on the ferry. Online booking possible but not necessary. It's not worth getting there early with a lot of equipment (2 bikes + trailer), bulky items get on the ship last.

A picturesque little harbor – probably primarily for fishing, but also serving ferry services to destinations including Peenemünde. The overall picture is rounded off by the plentiful restaurants.

From the port in Freest there is an excursion and regular connection to Peenemünde and Kröslin as well as to the islands of Ruden and the Greifswalder Oie.

The fishing port of Freest is located at the mouth of the Peene opposite the more well-known town of Peenemündung on the island of Usedom. Fishing remains an important, albeit dwindling, industry in Freest.
