The lookout tower on Koekoekspaad in the Bûtefjild offers stunning views of the Sippen-Finnen nature reserve and is located next to the Ottema-Wiersma Reserve. The Sippen-Finnen is a unique area accessible by ferry outside the breeding season.

It is a surprisingly beautiful area with open nature and lots of water.

The Tjasker Veenwouden is a polder mill north of the Frisian village of Veenwouden. The paaltjasker was built in the years 1974-1975, at the request of Staatsbosbeheer, after an original model. Unfortunately, the original builder, Roelof Dijksma, died during construction, after which two of his cousins completed the project. The mill was placed in the De Houtwiel nature reserve, north of Veenwouden, but later lost its function. It was subsequently demolished, restored (in 1996) and stored. In 2005, the mill was relocated to the Goddeloze Singel, about 600 meters to the east. The mill is currently not working. The Tjasker Veenwouden is recognized as a municipal monument.
