Nothing special

Many of Thorsten's photos were taken in completely different places, up to 20 km away (in Doeitinchem). So don't expect to find here what you see in many photos.

Quiet bike path along the river - so quiet that it sometimes becomes monotonous, but really relaxed riding.

The name already suggests it, but the Oude IJssel is a tributary of the river IJssel. The Oude IJssel starts in Germany and ensures that rainwater is drained from Germany and the Achterhoek. The Oude IJssel meets the Gelderse IJssel in the Hanseatic city of Doesburg and flows into the IJssel in the town. Interesting fact: because of the iron deposits in the ground here, this was the place where the Dutch iron industry originated.

There you can always see how boats are being transported on or off. So it is still in operation and not a museum lock.
